Outer Banks Travel Guide: Marathoner Edition

11/15/2022

With a mixture of short stretches and wilderness, Outer Bank marathons take runners through a beautiful scenic tour of North Carolina's Atlantic coastline. In this travel blog, OBX, we'll discuss the top 6 November marathons in Outer Banks.

The Towne Banks Outer Banks Marathon

The Towne Banks Marathon is the oldest running marathon in the Outer Banks. The course is fast and flat, making it a perfect place for a marathon. Participants can enjoy the scenery across the Outer Banks while covering the race course. Moreover, the post-race celebration features great entertainment, live music, and plenty of water.

There will also be many entertaining, family-friendly events to commemorate a successful race. Before the marathon, packet pickup will take place during a two-day sports and fitness expo that the organizers are holding. Along with the 2022 finisher prizes, participants will receive a race t-shirt.

You can enjoy a stay in Kill Devil Hills to get prepped for this marathon.

Southern Fried Half Marathon

If you plan to visit Nags Head, NC, you can join this exciting marathon starting from this location. Here runners will cross the Baum Bridge of Washington and finish their race in the village of Manteo. Participants crossing the finish line will be treated with the Southern Fried Sweet Taters.

The Oceanfront hotel sites are just a walking distance from the finish line of the Southern Fried Half Marathon. So, after completing the race, you can put up here to relax for the day.

Southern 6

The Southern 6 race will take place this Sunday. It allows all people to participate as it is a short marathon. The course is around 6 miles and finishes in the town of Manteo. The Comfort Inn South Oceanfront is just 4 minutes from the finishing line, making it a comfortable stay option for the day.

Flying Pirate Half Marathon Weekend

This is a fun running event where you can move through the Memorial Trail along the Albemarle Sound to the south. Sounds of herons and egrets create an excellent start to this 13.1-mile-long marathon. However, if you want to rest in a cozy place after the marathon, Comfort Inn On The Ocean lies only 0.5 miles away from the marathon course.

The Tipsy Turkey Beer Mile

You can give your thanksgiving week a fantastic start with the Tipsy Turkey Beer Mile marathon. Any person above the age of 21 can participate in this competition. Participants must drink a 10-ounce of beer, run a quarter mile, and continue this process until the course is complete. It is a fun opportunity to enjoy with your friends and family, giving an excellent head-start to your holidays.

The OBX hotels on the beach are nearby from the ending point of the race course, giving you multiple stay options post-marathon.

The Outer Banks Triathlon

The Outer Banks Triathlon includes swimming, biking, and running. It is a two-day multi-sport racing event that includes three different distances. The race starts with a swim of 1500m in Roanoke Island, followed by a 24.5-mile bike and 10km run race.

However, after this long marathon, you'd need a comfortable resting place-the Comfort Inn South Oceanfront Hotel within walking distance from the finishing point.

Conclusion

You can participate in various marathons in the Outer Banks this November and enjoy physical exertion. However, to participate in them, make sure that you rest the day before. To do so, put yourself up at hotels close to the marathon course that promise a luxury stay for their guests.
